1927 was the year of the crocodile. No, we haven’t been brainwashed by some Chinese astrologist – the crocodile we’re talking about is the most renowned René Lacoste, a world champion of tennis and style during the early decades of XX century. It was indeed 1927 when René triumphed in two crucial tournaments of the grand slam, the Parisian Roland Garros and the US Open in New York, prevailing in both cases over the apparently unbeatable American player Bill Tilden (later to became famous as a tennis theorist and a star of the show business). More than that, from victory to victory he led the musketeer of the French team onto the higher rung of the Coppa Davis podium. That same year the polo L.12.12 came to life, a cotton pique t-shirt that still stands as the unmistakable symbol of Lacoste style – and almost a century has gone.

The Tribute Collection by Lacoste was designed to celebrate the founder and his victories in sport: every model is explicitly dedicated to a single year and a particular victory. So here’s the sneaker consecrated to the crocodile’s year – Bryont (in both low and mid cut versions), Suzuka and Castera. All featuring precious fabrics and characterized by a special memorial label.
