That Tokyo is the Mecca for every collector of sneakers (and we surmise of everything else) it’s something we already knew. So we got further evidence supporting this belief of ours when wandering around Harajuku’s outskirts we chanced upon a marvelous vintage shop (no, we’re not going to whistle-blow you the name guys!) exhibiting these exceptional converse: released by the mid Eighties – and of course made in Usa – they were (well they are!) characterized by reminiscences of the preceding decade.
We aren’t being told they were ever re-released, but we hope that a remake will appear sooner or later, especially if they use the same high quality materials as the old ones. For the time being, we can’t help browsing with some patience the auction websites and prepare ourselves to spend at least 350 dollars for a original pair in perfect condition. The good thing is that these Chuck may be used willfully and safely: the intersole has no polyurethane in it.
